Global Gateways was founded over twenty years ago by a group of executives and managers of high technology companies. We are aware of the high human and capital costs of today's business practices of restructuring and downsizing. We have experienced times when people, working in teams, produced effective and dramatic results. It occurred to us that when we were part of an effective team, we also were stimulated, rewarded and had fun, the very things we wanted from our careers in business. So we formed our company with the specific focus around supporting other people and companies to form effective teams and learning organizations that could produce the desired outcomes and rewards for their organizations and themselves.

Our Mission: Creating, organizing and facilitating learning communities that bridge public sector, education and business organizations and produce actionable knowledge for the organizations and their members.

We accomplish our mission through successful execution of the below products/services:

moran photoJohn Moran is the founder and President of Global Gateways, Inc. Blending more than 35 years experience in industry as an executive, product developer and project manager and in academia as a course developer/instructor, John has achieved recognition as a bridge between the academic communities and industry. John's courses at the Notre Dame de Namur University, UC Berkeley Extension, Univesity of Nevada, Reno and San Jose State Professional Development program reflect the real life business situations derived from his consulting work with Silicon Valley companies. Additionally, his academic experience contributes to his ability to create unique collaborative environments that facilitate learning, sustainable growth and increased productivity for his industry clients.

In all his work, John advocates the importance of learning and systems thinking. Learning is the means to create knowledge. Knowledge is the capacity for effective action in today's world. Systems thinking is the capability to research and understand the relationships and connections between people, organizations and their environments. John believes these concepts are the foundation of personal and organizational growth in the 21st Century and is a Connections member of the Society for Organizational Learning and an associate of Partnerships for 21st Century Skills.

John's expertise has been developed through the organization and management of marketing and sales support functions for three high tech start up companies; as a team leader developing computer systems products and international markets; as a student and teacher in systems thinking; and as a principal consultant with Global Gateways. John is also the founder of the Software Industry Coalition, a non-profit corporation dedicated to improving the effectiveness of relationships, workforce, processes and products of the software industry. John's educational background includes a B.A. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University and he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in IT in Education.
